A wonderful opportunity to experience a cruise that takes you away from the mass market feel many ships offer today. I visited some of the most beautiful islands where the larger ships could not access. The service and food just could not be faulted.
The public areas are bright and well looked after. The Marco Polo lounge is the main entertainment hub of the ship and very popular.
The food and service is faultless. Buffet breakfasts, buffet or a la carte lunches and Seven course a la carte meals in the evening, all which are excellently presented. Allan, the restaurant manager and the other staff get to know the passengers by name - this would NEVER happen on a mass market ship!
I really felt I was treated as a person and not just a number.
The cabins are well laid out with adequate storage space. I was in an outside cabin on the Pacific Deck. The shower was a good size and generally the cabin was quiet. I did happen to meet a couple who had a suite on the cruise and these are a good size, probably double the size of my cabin.
The entertainment is more laid back. The ships crew entertained us along with local guest acts from the islands. Enjoyable but if you are expecting loud music and disco music the entertainment is not for you.
The ports of call in the Indian Ocean were very different and each island a different character and atmosphere.
Generally days at sea are spent relaxing - this really is the reason I choose any cruise - after spending time on the Royal Star I will be choosing the smaller ship in future for obvious reasons!
This cruise is more geared to adults with very little children on board so there are no special facilities for them.
Fellow passengers were friendly and most seemed to be from the UK and some other European countries.
