Date of Trip: June 3, 2001
Itinerary: Mediterranean
A 35,000 ton ship with 1050 passengers that never seems crowded.
Good public rooms, plenty of deck space, good food and a great Med
itinerary.
Good public areas, from glass enclosed Top of the Crown at the top deck and bow, a Stardust Show lounge with good viewing lines to
several intimate size bars.
Food in the dinning room was excellent, my table of 8 had no complaints about their choices. Breakfast and lunch buffets were good
basic foods with a omelet station at breakfast and hamburgers, hot dogs
and pizza at the 10th deck Cafe Italia. Service throughout the ship was
excellent.
We choose an inside cabin on the same deck as the mini-suites. The
size was ample, sufficient closet space and we didn't fill up all the drawer
space, and this was a 12 day cruise! Cabins were quiet.
Entertainment was good with an excellent song and dance
troupe, a good comedian (Dick Lord) and singer (Lori Reay).
The entertainment was not the quality of the top lines, but decent enough.
The usual activities, but nothing special, this cruise line is
a destination line and the itinerary was awesome. The ports of call were
Istanbul, Turkey; Kusadasi, Turkey the port for Ephesus; The Greek isles of
Delos, Mykonos, and Santorni; Valetta, Malta; The Italian ports of Sorrento
for Capri and Pompeii; Civitavecchia for Rome; Livorno for Florence and
Pisa; Cannes, France, Palma de Mallorca, Spain and Barcelona, Spain. A great
itinerary, virtually a port a day.
Fellow passengers were mostly 40 to 60 years old and
professionals. A few young couples with small children ( Orient lines do
not have children's programs), and a few older couples. My table mates for
dinner were great and made for enjoyable evenings.
