Itinerary: Caribbean
This was the second cruise that my wife and I had been on and found it a very relaxed and informal cruise, with plenty of diverse excursions to choose from. Such as quad biking, canoeing, mountain biking etc. Enough to suit any taste
All public areas were of exceptional decor. Very well maintained. Connexions bar was particularly comfortable. Pool area was very busy but we had a suite with balcony so we did not need to find a "good spot" by the pool ! Casino was quite small, only 2 roulette tables and three card tables (as I recall) I managed to win #250 anyway !
We ate in the plantation restaurant mainly, my only criticism would be that dinner was always asian food, the waterfront was pleasant. We did not eat in the bistro. The staff were excellent at all restaurants we used, very helpful and always on hand to clear your table efficiently
We had the option to upgrade prior to the start of the cruise so we decided to go all out and book a suite with balcony. Absolutely superb accommodation.
We saw a couple of shows in the marquee and found them to be very professional. The resident singers were perhaps not quite west end standard ! Visiting cabaret artists were excellent.
Activities were very diverse so there should be something for everyone. On board there were golf practice nets, deck games, a fully equipped gymnasium, basketball. We sailed from Barbados to Tortola and decided to go ashore under our own steam, a pleasant and picturesque island. Next stop was St Maarten, we took a coach tour and boat trip across the lagoon, plenty of rum punch ! Next was St Kitts, we decided to take the St Kitts railway trip (quite expensive) but gave you a leisurely tour around most of the island. Next was Antigua, where we visited Shirley Heights and took some great photographs, then went down to Nelson's Dockyard which was extremely interesting. Our final stop was Mayreau where we took to sea in a small glass bottom boat and viewed the coral, Ocean Village organised a beach bar and barbecue at lunchtime which was very enjoyable, until it poured with rain !!! We returned to Bridgetown, where we decided to take a trip on the atlantis submarine just off Bridgetown, this was a great experience, though expensive (luckily my casino winnings covered the cost so we treated ourselves !
Ages ranged from babies to pensioners, this holiday catered for all age groups, I would definitely recommend this style of cruising because you can choose to dress formal or informal and eat when you wish, there are no set meal times or sittings to worry about. On the whole a very relaxing way to see the world !
