Itinerary: Bahamas
When I cruised aboard the SS Oceanic in 1998, it was my first cruise ever. I was told by my travel agent before the trip, that it wasn't the newest ship in the block. I was told that by many standards, it wasn't even worthy of travel. But it was a great start for cruise beginners. It was a great first time cruise adventure to get acclimated to the cruising activity.
As a first time cruiser at that time, I was impressed with the vessel as a whole. The attention to detail aboard The Big Red Boat was better than some of my most recent voyages. From the casino to the ice cream parlor, I was thoroughly pleased with her.
Being food service certified, I could appreciate the quality and service aboard the Premier Oceanic. The food was appealing, tasteful and properly presented. I ate in the main dining room daily and nightly, so I didn't have the opportunity to explore any other dining options.
The stateroom was nicely appointed. I had no complaints. Once I got used to the tight quarters, I was fine. I didn't spend a whole lot of time in my cabin anyway, so it was less of a factor.
The entertainment aboard was just a good as my most recent cruises. Same type, just different persons performing.
Equal to others. Smaller facilities than some, but still offered comparable services.
There were a couple of fellow guests I would have invited over for dinner and more, but then, that's not the intent of the cruise liner.
