Princess have done a very good job with this brand new addition to the fleet
A very good layout of the public areas means the ship is easy to get around and does not feel crowded - and I am saying this from the point of view of someone driving a 4-wheel scooter. Elevators are most important to us and on here we never had to wait - worth a star on it's own.
The Wheelhouse Bar is well done and has a small P&O museum which I hope they'll keep.
The food we found was better than the Princess average and at last no more AL DENTE - good riddance. We had two of the new special Platinum Captain's Circle lunches with the Captain (we won for most days on P&O/Princess both ways)which were the best meals we've ever had on them. Excellent chef.
We used the set sitting option in the Provence Dining room which too is the best we've been in for a long time - certainly the quietest. I was able to drive in next to our table, for two, and the asst waiter became very good at parking it and setting up my cushion. The service from the Maitre'd the Head Waiter on down could not be bettered.
The 24 hour Horizon Court was easy to get around and we never had a problem getting a table whilst the food was certainly fine for us.
We had a handicapped cabin, approx 270 sq.ft without the large balcony I could drive onto. Lots of room and I could've driven into the shower which was very well equipped. The 2 closets had the pull down clothes racks. One small problem, the toilet uplift didn't fit (probably North American to a French toilet) so the carpenter came and fixed it. Unfortunately that left my wife's feet 6 inches off the deck - no problem, he made a very nice little mahogany stool for her in short order.
We never heard any sound from our neighbours and only a little from the hallway outside. Quietist ship ever so excellent insulation.
The only PA announcements in the cabin were for Boat Drills - NOT a single one otherwise which just goes to show what can be done
We gave up going to shows many many trips ago.
Having been to Alaska several times we didn't bother to go ashore except to try out the gangway a couple of times and to take the traditional pix of the better half standing under the name on the bow.
One interesting little thing, the photographers told us that all their pixs are now done digitally and computer processed to cut down on chemicals used - they can still process ordinary film tho'
Very few children both ways as school's not out yet, so plenty of seniors
