Itinerary: Caribbean
The cruise exceeded our expectations in all departments. The only downer was the incessant emphasis on shopping at the various ports. Not everybody wants to stock up on jewelry during a cruise.
All the public areas were excellent. Our favorite place to relax was the small library. Did not patronize the casino or swimming pool.
We really enjoyed the food and service in the main Florentine dining room and ate there for breakfast and dinner each day, and for lunch when the ship was at sea. The free style dining put a lot of pressure on the dining room staff compared to fixed seating where everyone would no exactly where to sit, Tables for two sometimes required waiting but the hand held monitor solved the problem.
The cabin met all our needs and the cabin steward was very efficient, friendly and took great pride in his work.
The entertainment was very good. The only problem was that one had to get there early in order to get a seat.
We stopped at Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan , Cabo San Lucas. San Diego and Catalina. Our favorite was Mazatlan.
Mostly they were very congenial, but as for asking them home for dinner how could I fit two thousand people into my dining room? Bottom line is that Princess is a well run cruise line and our satisfaction resulted in us booking another cruise, on Golden Princess on July 11, 2006
