Itinerary: Caribbean - Southern
This was the third cruise for my wife and I. we are in our early fifties. we were on RCI (Grandeur) in 2001 and Celebrity (century) in 2003. We enjoyed the first two cruises and found this one very nice as well. This ship is a bit bigger than the others we were on, but we did not find that it detracted in anyway from the quality of the cruise. Overall, we would recommend this ship. It is beautiful, with very good food and service.
The theatre and the vista lounge were quite comfortable, as were the smaller lounges on this ship. We never found them crowded. The pool areas were very nice, although it was difficult to find a lounge chair during midday when the ship was at sea. I only visited the casino one night - it was not crowded and friendly. The gym is very well equipped with treadmills, weights, and resistance machines.
The service in the main dining room was excellent. We were fortunate and had six very sociable table mates. The food both in the dining room and the horizon court buffet was very good. Burgers and fries pool side were tasty and convenient.
We had an outside cabin on one of the lower decks. It was spacious enough but could have had more drawer space. The bathroom was small, including the shower (but no different than on the other ships we'd been on). The cabin steward was very friendly and responsive.
The entertainment was the only area where I could say this cruise did not match up to the others we'd been on. With one exception (a piano player in a small lounge), the entertainment in the theatre, vista lounge, and bars was not as good as I would have hoped.
We made stops in Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. the beaches were beautiful. Be prepared to be accosted by panhandlers at any of the major beaches (except Magens Bay).
There were passengers of all ages. Not that many children on this February cruise.
