I have returned from the Grand Princess in amazement. She is the greatest ship I have ever been on, even though of the high number of passengers you never feel crowded always a lot of room everywhere.A cruise on the Grand Princess is a cruise of a lifetime!
The public areas are just great let me start with the PRINCESS THEATER: the views are great not one seat in the theater is obstructed you can see the stage perfectly from any of the thousands of seats.
EXPLORERS LOUNGE: Also a great lounge views are good very comfortable and a lot of room.
VISTA LOUNGE: To me seems to be the best show lounge of the three! Vista Lounge is made up of very comfortable couches the view of the stage is good.
The Grand Princess has four pools, all with freshwater, on my cruise non of them were ever crowded, I would recommend the Lap Pool, and Neptunes Reef and pool by which there is a pizzeria and hamburger grill, the only bad thing is that the pizzeria and hamburger grill close early at about 6p.m.. The great thing is that the pools and spas are open 24 hours a day but usually at least two of the nine spa are closed. What I disliked was that the spas were crowded until about 5 p.m. after that you can even have the spa to yourself for as long as you like.
The Casino is one of the biggest afloat! a lot of slot machines, the casino isn't anything special all it has is a few holographic images of the underwater king Neptune. The casino is never crowded but always a lot of people there, but it seems to be a little quiet sometimes no machine noises or money falling down.
The Grand Plaza is a beautiful sight the one you see at first glance once you board the Grand Princess. There are two panoramic lifts which are just gorgeous. There is also a good basketball court not too big but good enough, never crowded. Also the Grand Princess has a Video Arcade VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY a great place for kids a lot of games all for a price though but worth it they will enjoy it.
The last but not least is the Skywalkers Disco/Nite Club with floor to ceiling windows through which you can take breathtaking views of the ocean, the Skywalkers disco/niteclub is suspended 15 decks above the sea, it is a must see.
The food was great from lobsters to sirloin steaks it was all great. I was in the Botticelli dining room, it is the hardest to get to, but after the second night you will get used to finding it. There was a bit of motion in the dining room but not very noticeable, if you get sea sick I prefer to switch to either Michelangelo's or Da Vinci's dining room! Breakfast and lunch are open seating, I have never went to lunch in the dining room but breakfast was good.
There is a 24-hour dining restaurant the HORIZON COURT which has beautiful floor to ceiling windows with the gorgeous view of the ocean. The overall service was terrific all the staff go out of their way to help you in any way the service is fast and great.
I had cabin C-511 on caribe deck it was mid ship. It was an inside cabin with two twin beds which convert a queen. The cabin itself looks beautiful with mirrors and nice furnishing. There is a TV, refrigerator, and hair drier. The bathroom is quite small and so is the shower. There is a lot of closet space that is if the room is for two people if it is for more it might be hard fitting everything in the closets and drawers.
The shows aboard were just terrific top quality from magicians to comedians all were just great, off course as any cruise ship there were a few not so great shows but in overall the shows were 5 star.
While on board there is always something to do there is bingo, pool games, card room, basketball, table tennis, snorkeling and scuba diving lessons, and a lot more. You will NEVER feel bored there is always something planned but if you want you can just relax and catch a tan or read a book it is all up to you, you do what you want and when you want it!
My fellow passengers were people in age of 40 and up there were some kids not a lot and not that many passengers in their 20's. In overall the people were nice but as in every crowd there are some less friendly people but very few.
So I hope you enjoyed the review and I recommend this ship to any one who wants grand class cruising, do what you want and when you want it. I would cruise her anytime, and will return to her very soon. Enjoy.
