Itinerary: Alaska
We were hesitant about taking a 10 day cruise with several days at sea. We quickly learned that we cherished those days at sea as days of rest and time to explore the ship. The Regal is a very nice ship. The 10 day cruise out of San Francisco is awesome!
My husband and I are fairly large people, so we were concerned about fitting in the chairs. Once on board, we realized there were lots of comfortable places for us. The showroom has benches, so we had no problems. In the dining room, we requested armless chairs the first day and they were there the rest of the cruise for us. Except for the artwork everywhere in the way, the ship is very easy to navigate.
I have heard the food on the Regal isn't that good, but we didn't experience that. We enjoyed almost every meal. The service was excellent. In fact, one evening the filet minon just didn't taste good to me (my husband loved it). I din't say anything, but our waiter instantly saw my face and asked if I wanted something else. Now that is service. On Lobster night they automatically brought out extra tails for everyone.
The buffet upstairs was pretty good. They had different themes each day with different kinds of food. We ended up eating there for lunch several days.
The cabins on the Regal are very comfortable. Like I said before, my husband and I are fairly large. (My husband is 6'5" tall and 450lbs) We were amazed at how much room we had. We both fit in the shower and the bathroom with no problem. We also like extra pillows and the room steward provided them with no problem. We also appreciated the refrigerater in the room.
Entertainment was typical of any cruise entertainment. We go every night and enjoy it. I like some better than others, but it's fun. They had some very talented dancers and singers, as well as a comedian that was pretty funny. One night they also had some acrobatic dancers that were very interesting. The show on the last night that is put on by the crew is pretty funny.
Wow, there are so many activities. My husband participated in Karaoke, we both joined in on the trivia games, we played some bingo, and we attended the horse races. We planned on going to the movie theater, but just never had time. My husband used the spa a few mornings.
One of the highlights, though, was the naturalist on board. His name was Brent Nixon and he was amazing. He gave several talks about wildlife and the room was packed every time. He was knowlegeable and entertaining. I highly recommend any cruise that has him as a the naturalist. He was also great at pointing out wildlife for us.
There seemed to be a lot of couples and families. We were at a table with some really nice people from Florida and New Mexico. They were all seasoned Princess passengers.
