Itinerary: Transcanal
This is an older medium size ship (45,000 ton), built in 1984, but beautifully maintained and a loyal following of past passengers. Had a wonderful tour of Panama City and partial Canal transit. Would highly recommend for experienced travelers that like high quality.
Most public rooms are located on lower deck. Does not have multi-deck height public rooms, but very open and spacious. The dining room was not noisy. There are many places to sit without being crowded. Spacious lounge on top deck that surrounds the stack.
Food and service we found to be of excellent quality and service in dining room and cabins was superior. There was a large buffet lido cafe that served a good selection. Spacing in dining room was more that adequate and not noisy.
Of the 600 cabins 150 had balconies. cabin size is not as large as some of new ships, but adequate. All bathrooms had bathtubs with shower heads. It was a little short drawer space. There were refrigerators, and TV in all cabins. Large windows. Very good sound proofing.
Attended most show aboard. The 2nd setting shows were never crowded and you could always find setting. The dancers put on good production numbers. Cruise staff was very and very helpful. Captain was very gracious to all the passengers.
Activities were geared to more mature people, very few children aboard. Ports stopped at were: Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Port Limon and Panama Canal. Highlight of the ports was the Panama City tour. Have been thru the canal 5 times before, but this tour gave a new insight to the Canal and surrounding area. There were 3 types of pools spread out over the sun deck, so was never crowded. There was a health club, but did not use and a small gym.
Mainly mature experienced cruisers. Average 55 and up. Sat at table for 6 and had a very sociable and pleasant dining experience with them.
