Itinerary: Alaska

Overview
Sun Princess deserves all its 5 stars! It was my first cruises, and I have to say, I was impressed! Its a huge ship and you'd never get bored. It had a very classy atmosphere and everyone was friendly. They must've spent millions of dollars on the art and decor! Everyone of all ages seemed to be enjoying their time and so did my family. The staterooms for families could use a bit of work, but you'd get used to the small space. I loved Alaska and I Loved the ship. It is the Love Boat after all.

Public Areas
The public areas were never crowded and elegantly decorated. The Atrium had a fountain, and paintings and sculptures galore. If you want a classy ship that's not constantly crazy and upbeat, but not too quiet and boring, this is the ship for you. The areas were well designed and you never it never felt crowded. String quartets an pianists played nice music in the evenings and lunchtime. The casino was nice, my mother made $250! The three pools were popular even in Alaska, so the temperature was pretty warm.

Food and Service
The food at the dining room was delicious and the coffee and desserts were great. I especially liked the sundaes and Baked Alaska. The Lido Deck food was pretty mediocre, I liked eating breakfast there, but lunch was more enjoyable at one of the alternative restaurants. If you're a health freak I don't recommend the Lido Deck food. The Terrace Grill served good Hamburgers, but I loved the pizza at Verdi's. Our waiters in the dining room were very efficient and friendly.

Cabins
We had an outside quad (category F,) because we were traveling with 4 people. I'd wished it had more space, but I got used to it. Even though we over packed, we had enough closet space. There was some screeching sounds at night, but it was pretty easy to ignore and sleep. Our steward was cheerful and our room was always well cleaned.

Entertainment
My parents attended the comedy show (a juggler performed,)and said they really enjoyed it. The Newlywed Game show made me LAUGH! The assistant cruise director was the host and he was very fun. The talent show on our last night was enjoyable. I'm sure the entertainment isn't exactly like Broadway, but its pretty good for a ship!!!

Activities
Princess had a good variety of excursions and stayed longer at the ports than most other ships did. I understand that in Alaska cruises, Princess is unbeatable and I can see why. We enjoyed our tours and Alaska's scenery was breathtaking.

Who Goes
Most of the passengers were over 50, but there were some baby boomers, and lots of kids. This is a good ship for everyone, but if you're traveling with a large family, don't get a stateroom, but a suite.
