Itinerary: Caribbean-Western
The overall cruise was fun, however the itinerary was less than expected. We would not take this trip again.
The gym was very nice. Had everything, except cups for water. Spent a lot of time in the solarium. The best bartender there!!!! The disco was fun. The best cruise director ever!! He was hilarious. Spent a lot of time in the schooner bar. The pianist was really good. Good shows, but too much 60's theme. Really funny comedians. I would pay to see the two guys again. Next time I will do more on-board activities.
The food was pretty good. I am from the napa valley/san francisco area, so I can be pretty picky. I was never disappointed, though. I do wish there was a fit and light fare in the solarium for a light snack or light breakfast. Room service was a little slow for dinner, and cold. But ray who brought us our breakfast in the morning was just the best!!!!!! I advise passing up the windjammer and always go to the Great Gatsby. Soooo much better.
Plenty of drawers and plenty of room in closet. Only problem was where to put my empty bulky suitcases. Shower was as big as any room I have had on a ship. Our room was very quiet and comfortable. Very pleased.
I attended the Half Monty. That was fun. I won't miss the quest next time. Heard that was hilarious. As I said, the comedians were a scream!! Our staff in the dining room was nice. As always, I don't really know what the head waiter does. The waiter was polite and friendly and tolerant (there were 10 in our group, all friends!. The assistant waiter was loveable. Just as sweet as could be.
Now for the good part. This is why I logged on.
Do not go to Progresso!! Do not go to Progresso!!
This is not in Western Caribbean. And it is not ready for American tourists. The only brave soul in our group ordered chicken tacos in Merida, and there were little white larva-looking bugs crawling in it. No joke. I promise. They drop you off after a 40-minute bus ride that costs 8 dollars per person in a city where nobody speaks english and you stick out like a sore thumb and you do not feel safe. If you do go, take a tour to the ruins!
Do not go to Progresso
Cozumel and Grand cayman were fantabulous!!! Just loved it. Want to go back.
Mostly 25-60 years of age on this cruise. Some teens, not many. Not too many kids or young couples. Met really nice people. Everyone I talked to was pretty mad about the port of Progresso.
