Itinerary: Caribbean - Western
The Grandeur is a beautiful ship. Service was excellent, food was good. Weather was a little cooler than we would have liked it. Grand Cayman port was cancelled due to rough seas, although we couldn't feel it on the ship! Captain Zinn was the youngest captain we ever cruised with. He was quite entertaining and also pretty visible throughout the cruise!
Public areas are all well kept. Pool area was okay. Solarium pool area was nice. The centrum was beautiful, glass and marble and woods. Did notice a sewage smell off the 4th floor, near the centrum. That's the only complaint about the public areas!
Dining room service was excellent. Our waiter (Sonay) and assistant waiter (Gabrielle) were excellent! Food was okay, nothing spectacular, but it was good. Windjammer Buffet was okay for a buffet. I don't particularly care for buffets. Pizza stand left a little to be desired!
Cabin was okay. we had two inside cabins. The closet space was okay. Bathroom was like any other cruise ship bathroom. You can take care of everything without moving too far!
Entertainment - The two comedians were excellent, as well as the two late night adult comedy shows. The magician was okay - it was more of a dance than magic. The 50's night was fun. The game shows were good - the Quest and Love and Marriage. Didn't care for the Millionaire Show - actually it was one of the contestants that made it stink! Would have like to have more "pool games". Didn't get to all of the shows as we had late seating for dinner and some of the shows were before dinner!
Cozumel was great - we rented a jeep on our own and did our own tour of Coz - since we have been there several times. Grand Cayman was cancelled - bummer - because truly that was the only port we really wanted to go to. Costa Maya - we were pleasantly surprized. Had a wonderful time there. Rented bicycles - had a great time. Also did a boat snorkel tour. Days at sea - too many and the weather was very windy - not really pool weather, unless you like wearing jeans and sweats at the pool.
Worst fellow passengers ever! At least the majority. Did meet a few fellow passengers that we would socialize with, but for the most part - the most rude and ignorant fellow passengers we have ever encountered. The words "pardon me and excuse me" were not in their vocabulary. The really need to learn elevator etiquette too. Pushing and shoving... by the 7th day, i was definitely ready to get off the ship!
A much older crowd also, but they weren't part of the rude & ignorant group - Also lots of babies!
