If you have never been on a cruise before, or don't have any problems with an older ship this is the cruise for you. The price is right for the quality of cruise that you get. We haven't been on any "mainstream" cruises yet, and can say that this one lived up to what we expected for the price.
The pool was small, but comfortable. It's a smaller ship so not ALOT of seating around the pool, but since the cruise leaves late and the whole next day you're in Nassau there's not a lot of time to swim and sit around anyway. Disco is loud, and of course we went during spring break so it made it even louder :) Internet cafe is decent, but expensive. Promenade deck is comfortable.
Food was very good. I was a bit queasy the first night so I didn't eat much, but my husband was quite satisfied. Everyone at our table seemed to be satisfied with it as well. There are two midnight buffets - Italian the first night, Mexican the second. Both were pretty good. Breakfast was decent. However, the worst thing was the last morning. If you had early seating you had to be in the dining room by 6:30 am; 7:30 am for the late seating. Or you could have the continental breakfast buffet on the Promenade Deck. This was a VERY basic and small continental breakfast. We ended up stopping for breakfast after we left port.
Our cabin was decent. We were in a Superior Outside Stateroom on the Restaurant Deck. When we checked in there was an option to upgrade to a suite, but my husband was too cheap. After we got on the ship and started nosing around we found some of the suites that were available and tried to go back and get one. It was worth the extra money - $160 for the upgrade - VERY large rooms. Unfortunately they were all gone by the time we got there.
We didn't attend any of the shows but I played Bingo one night and heard the show after I was leaving and it sounded pretty good. Heard pretty good opinions too.
Only one port of call - Nassau. They really try to sell their Shore Excursions. We opted not to do that since we had already been to Nassau and been to the private lagoon on our previous cruise. Instead we took a ferry over to Paradise Island. We would highly recommend the taxi ride instead - too long of a wait for the ferry boats. They make you buy your round trip tickets or else we would've taken a taxi back instead. On Paradise Island, if you walk about a mile and go on the path next to the Sheraton, there is a very nice public beach. The Atlantis Resort beaches are restricted to guests and those from Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Lines. The public beach was clean, comfortable and actually very crowded. Lots of sun and waves to play in! We did hear the lagoon was fun, and the buffet offered was satisfactory. We talked to a couple people who went on the Snorkeling Excursion and they really enjoyed that.
A large variety. Families, college students on spring break, Couples ranging from mid twenties to mid fifties, a few older couples sprinkled throughout.
