This old girl is retiring,she is 57 years old .You probably would want to like old ships to sail on her. I love it. It's like sailing the great old oceanliner which she is. They try hard but it is not a Carnival ship! They put on a few b-rated shows to pass the time.

Well worn were the carpets and some of the wood paneling was damaged when she was used as a hotel ship in Texas. It's still in good condition over all. Dining room is pure joy of yesteryear. Teak and wood are everywhere.

Service was BETTER than Norwegian Pearl as was the food hands down. I like the assigned seating. There is a surcharge restaurant but it was not operating during this full cruise.

We had Admiral Suite F. It is a original suite from 1953, all wood and dark, two rooms. I have been in the two upper lower berth and the Lanai suites. The regular rooms are small but the bathrooms seem to be the same size in all catagory rooms.

If you want a high energy show with blinking lights and raising stages your on the wrong ship. The shows are good for seating a while and letting your food digest before going to bed or the casino.

I don't like the Bahamas period. I sail the Regal Empress for the ship itself.

A lot of people who get the cruise for free for going to a timeshare seminar. I would rather cut my finger nails off to the bone than waste two minute listening to some sales pitch. A lot of whiners. I think that with the new ship there will be a new lease on the life of this sailing. I will miss the Empress.
