Itinerary: South America
I have been on two cruises on Stella Oceanis. The South American one was my first cruise. I then sailed her into Black Sea to Yalta and Odessa in the 70's. I liked that ship and her Greek crew. I have since moved up to bigger ships but I guess I am still partial to the smaller ones.
All the Public areas were satisfactory for this small ship. I loved visiting with the entertainers that they had aboard. There was no casino when I sailed her and didn't miss it.
Food was excellent. I remember having Russian Beluga Caviar and when I asked for a second helping the waiter said OH!,Captain say only one scoop. Of course I could have the other people's at the table that didn't eat caviar.
My first cruise was an inside cabin. It was roomy enough and comfortable. Yes a full size person could fit in the shower. It was quiet. We use to hang the keys to the cabin on a hook, so the stewart would know that we had left the cabin. I wonder if they still do that.
I've seen better and I've seen worse
South America included-Sailed out of Barbados. Visited Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Bahis, Santos, Montevideo,Uruguay,
Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Balck Sea- Instanbul,Odessa,Yalta, Constanza,Romania, Ephesus, Athens, Myconus
The ship had a small pool that was adequate. The ship never seemed crowded in spite of her small size.
Don't remember any childcare being available.
The mix of passengers was nice. J.W Marriott corp owned Sun Line cruises at the time. I took care of one of his friends that fell and broke his arm at the time. I got to see his first class cabin and it was really nice.
