Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
Only cruise we've ever been on with no "Welcome Aboard" cocktail party to meet Capt. & officers, and no Capt's Dinner. Cheap outfit. New Year's Eve-one glass champagne about ll45. Optional tours good in general, but overpriced. If you want bottled water on all day tours you'll have to buy it.

Public Areas
Public areas nice overall. Very nice Library, operated on the honor system. Two computers set up for e-Mail, but it would cost $9.50 per minute sat. time. Walk-around promenade around pool area, excellent health club facilities, signup list for treadmills. Poor group exercise classes. Nice pool, hot tubs, casino & shops. Sports Bar great.

Food and Service
Two restaurants-The Grill & the Italian Rest., required reservations, and had poorer service than the open dining Club rest. Panorama Rest. buffet style, good selection, great views outside, best place to eat breakfast and lunch. You can ask the waiter for items from dining room.6 seat tables in Club Rest. offered good chances to meet folks.

Cabins
Cabin was great. Had a veranda. Nicely furnished. Bathroom very well furnished, but a very large person would have difficulty squeezing into it. Cabin very quiet, never heard any noise.

Entertainment
Shows ran the gamut, from really really bad to very good. Rl doesn't have a very large theatre, more like a cocktail lounge with a stage, best view from the bar rail, elevated a bit. Vocalists were excellent, comic wasn't bad, magician stunk. Cruise staff fairly good about explaining upcoming tours.

Activities
On board, if it's warmer than Jan. in the Med, the pool area is really nice, Library nice. At most ports you can bargain with a taxi driver for a much less expensive tour, or just walk around town. Tour was Athens, Ashdod & Haifi, Israel, Rhodes, Cyprus, Crete, Kusadasi & Istanbul,Turkey.Expect 1.5+ hr wait for cable car ride to near top of Masada. Don't miss Ephesus.

Who Goes
They were like one big AARP meeting. Wasn't as diverse a group as usual on a cruise. Only 2-3 couples would we consider inviting over.
