Itinerary: World Cruise Segment
I was the computer systems officer when the Saga Rose was called
"MS Gripsholm" just prior to being bought by Saga Tours. She is a WONDERFUL
ship, has a good ride in rough seas, and I was very happy to call her my
home for four months.
She is very spacious and the outside rooms are terrific.
The food was spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The bath/shower is deep, but could be a little longer. Sorry, but I
am 6'3". There was more than enough closet space.
Of course I am going to say that the cruise staff is
excellent. But they truly are. They all understand that this may be the one
and only time that a passenger may be on a cruise and they always took the
extra time to ensure that the passengers were satisfied with EVERYTHING on
the ship and ashore.
We went to Funchal, Madeira, the Cannarie Islands, Barcelona,
Spain, Genoa, Italy, Saint Helena, All over Brazil (including up into the
Amazon River), All over the Caribbean, Namibia, South Africa, Madagascar,
The Sechelle Islands (sorry about the spelling), Kenya (wonderful country),
South Yemen, Egypt (you have got to see the Egyptian National Museum, the
pyramids are kind of a let down!), Israel, Turkey (GREAT SHOPPING!!!),
Cyprus, Greece, and then Venice, Italy (a beautiful city but the locals are
all rather RUDE and like to take advantage of visitors).
Very nice, older crowd.
