As 1st time cruisers from Australia, my friend & I had a brilliant
time. Friendly staff, great itinerary, calm waters, great food & plenty of
it. The only downside, not enough time to really relax, there was too much
to do! But that's the individual choice you make.
Yes, there is a walk-around promenade which a friend used each
day. The pool is fine, seems to be able to cater for the number of
passengers on board. Also 2 outdoor jacuzzi's which were in use until late
at night. Small casino area, didn't use it but seems adequate. Small/duty
free shop - watch out for daily discounts. Bar Gemini a great place to meet
for pre-dinner drinks.
Mariner's buffet open for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Good variety & service great. Ocean Palace open breakfast, lunch, dinner also.
This is where the theme nights are held - these were great. An early
breakfast here is recommended, very few people there and the service is even
better than usual. BBQ night on pool deck was brilliant, food superb,
something for everyone. Each area caters for special diets eg. diabetics,
vegetarians.
We had an outside cabin. As we found out - do not get an outside cabin on deck 6. All you can see is the water below & the life boat. Apart
from that, small but quite adequate. Just enough room for 2 females & their
gear! Superbly maintained by cabin staff. Were shown suites on deck 7, very
nice, spacious with large balcony.
Attended shows each night. Excellent standard. Generally, the cruise staff were excellent. Couldn't do enough to please. So many activities going on, can't possibly do them all. Entertainment after
pool side BBQ was great & included entertainers from Phuket, before setting
sail around midnight.
As we were on a 5 night cruise prior to ship going into dry-dock for refurbishment, itinerary was a bit different. Kuala Lumpur - we went on the shopping tour. It was a bit rushed as it's so far from the port and
traffic is hectic. Suggest a cab from downtown to shop at Chinatown instead. Other tour looks good. Pangkor - can tour the island &/or relax & use hotel facilities, pool, windsurfers etc. Phuket - we chose the elephant safari tour. It's not really a safari, but it's brilliant all the same. It
was the best thing we did. Plenty of time for shopping or whatever at
Patong Beach. Gemini makes full use of time in port, arriving in the
daytime, thus giving you plenty of time to do whatever in daylight hours.
Childcare available but had no need for it so cannot give more info.
Passengers mostly Australian & English with some other Europeans &
Asians. Made one really good friend. Others were great to mingle with
shipboard. It seems that you tend to gravitate to like-minded people and
most people seem to get about & do their own thing without bothering others.
Most seemed friendly enough.
