Star Cruises

MS SuperStar Virgo

Your Rating:Four Stars

Date of Trip: July 9, 2003
Itinerary: Nowhere

Overview
Recommended if you like large hotels with a ton of bars and dining areas. Plenty of shows & other activities to keep everyone busy. worth paying a bit more to get in to balcony class. Most staff very friendly and good communication skills. Good for couples and families. Would not go if single. In 2 nights and 3 days the Virgo travelled 517 nautical miles heading about 220 nm due west from Fremantle Western Australia before a leisurly cruise home.

Public Areas
Good public areas but some areas a bit warm & smokey (even for a smoker) eg Kareoke. Bad weather with rough seas and Forcs 9 gale meant passengers did not venture outside very much.

Food and Service
Good quality food everywhere except for the "Blue Lagoon" that appears to struggle with western snacks (eg Toasted Ham & Cheese sandwiches were barely toasted and the ham/cheese was tissue paper thin). Drinks service 8/10 with only occasional delays on the 12th deck "Galaxy of the Stars" area.

Cabins
We were in Stateroom 9002 Balcony Class that had all expected facilities. A bar fridge would have been handy and the TV audio was bad. The room was quiet however & unless you were really big toilet & shower OK (I'm 186 cm & 88 kg & there was plenty of room).

Entertainment
Attended alll shows in the Lido Room. 8/10 for the Brazilian dancing girls and Chinese Acrobats. 6/10 for tribute to Broadway put on by staff.

Activities
Good for kids with plenty of activities and care facilities. Huge video games arcade to keep teenagers busy all day. On board shopping was pretty week with extremely limited selection. Pool & spa etc. was on board. Disco and 3 or 4 other drink / dance areas and 8 restaurants with 3 being included in ticket price.

Who Goes
Wide cross section of people. No complaints & all appeared to be quite considerate. Did not come across any drunks or abusive people.
